8 Great Gifts for gardeners

With the Holiday Season in full swing, I found myself struggling to answer the question,

“What do you want for Christmas?”

Due to 2020 being so incredibly unpredictable, I hadn’t really thought about gifts at all. I began to realize, that perhaps I’m not the only one struggling with gift ideas this year.

I’d like to share a list of some great gifts to give to the gardener in your family.

Most of the items on this list are things that I have purchased, and found useful in some way over the years.

8. Dehydrator

In my opinion there is nothing worse than wasted food!

If you’re anything like me, you’ll try almost anything to make sure you get the most out of each harvest.

I have yet to master the art of pressure canning, and you can only quick pickle so much.

Buying a dehydrator was perhaps one of the wisest decisions I’ve made since starting my garden.

I would’ve LOVED the Exaclibur, but unfortunately it just wasn’t in the budget at the time.

The Brand that I actually have has been discontinued, but just remember when searching for a dehydrator just remember the classic phrase,

“You get what you pay for!”

7. Seed Storage Bin

These bins are for people like me, who are obsessed with organization and color coordination!

I am aware that some folks have an enormous seed collection, and this might not be an ideal solution for that.

For backyard gardeners like myself, these are perfect.

Even if you need 2 cases, they stack neatly and keep everything tidy.

6. Kitchen Compost

I love my little counter top compost bin! It's so cute, and having it on the counter makes it really easy to remember to save food scrapes for my garden.

There are of course pros and cons to this specific bin.

PROS: The carbon filter on the lid is easy to replace, and it has carrying handles on both the liner and the bin. The inner liner lifts out, making it easy to clean.

CONS: The handle on the liner falls of easily, which is frustrating when trying to lift the compost out to empty. The handle on the actual bin has popped off twice, despite us reattaching it with heavy duty screws.

The Bamboozle compost bin has been a nice addition to my home. Its a decent size, which is important to me. I don’t want to have to constantly empty out the bin when I’m cooking.

The Bamboozle is also BPA-free. Its made of bamboo fiber and a total eco friendly option

Unfortunately, this bin does not have a liner, so you’ll want to keep in mind that it will need to be cleaned often.

5. Pruners

I know I’m not alone in saying, that I’ve run through my fair share of pruners in the garden.

In my opinion, you can never have too many pairs of great pruners.

Felco is an amazing long lasting brand. They come in different sizes to cater to your comfort in the garden.

Now let me be transparent, Felcos are not cheap!

You may be weary of the price, but I believe that they are 100% worth the investment.

4. Seed Starting Rack

When we moved into our new home, I requested a seed starting rack for my plant room. Originally, I had my eyes set on one of Gardeners Supply Company’s Bamboo Shelves. Unfortunately, it wasn’t in our budget at the time. Daniel was able to build this shelf from his scrap wood.

If you are not in the mood to build your own shelf and research grow lights, then here are some other great choices.

The beautiful Bamboo Mini LED Grow Light Garden from Gardeners Supply Company.

The customizable Stake-N-Grow Light System from Gardeners Supply Company.

3. Gardening Gloves

I Love my gloves from Digz Gardening!

They are comfortable,

touch screen compatible

and machine washable.

Digz offers gloves in different sizes, for different needs.

The rose gloves are my personal favorite.

2. Compost Tumbler

My very 1st compost Tumbler was an Envirocycle. I have never owned anything else, because I love it that much!

This Tumbler is cute, compact, and easy to use.

The base is a mini vessel for catching compost tea.

It comes in different sizes and different colors.

1. Garden Hose

There is nothing more frustrating than running through hose after hose, because they keep tearing.

I’ve finally found the perfect Medium Duty Hose from Gilmuor.

This was the perfect hose for my garden.

It lasted all summer, which is actually a 1st for me.

I chose the Medium Duty hose, because it wasn’t as heavy to carry around the garden.
